A FAMILY HISTORY

A heritage of knowledge, passed through four generations.

The story begins in 1955, when Ron Green, together with his son Michael, opened a small antiques shop in Towcester, Northamptonshire. A traditional dealer with a discerning eye for Georgian furniture, Ron followed one rule: only buy what you love. Furniture, sculpture, paintings, ceramics, he chose pieces that spoke to him, not just to a market. He soon became known as a bold buyer. If something moved him, it became his, regardless of cost. And once it was, he would often pass it on for little more than he paid.

“The appeal,” he often said, “was never in the money to be earned, but the joy of owning it.”

In those early days, the A5 through Towcester was a popular route for dealers from across the UK and Europe, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, and particularly America. With such a variety of tastes and influences passing through, Ron and Michael chose to hold a broad and eclectic stock, spanning all periods and styles.

By the 1970s, Ron Green Antiques had become a trusted name among collectors and the trade, supplying pieces to clients across Britain and abroad. In the decades that followed, Michael’s sons Nick and Chris joined the business, continuing the family tradition. Over time, the business evolved from serving the trade to welcoming a growing circle of private collectors across Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. Their reputation for selling authentic, honest and tasteful pieces remains as strong as ever.

Today, Nick and Chris continue to run Ron Green Antiques, serving a loyal clientele of interior designers, architects, and collectors, locally, nationally and internationally.

In 2013, a new chapter began when Will Green joined the family business. Having grown up surrounded by antiques, and taught from an early age to look, and look intently, he brought with him an instinctive understanding of quality and form.

After more than a decade working alongside his father and uncle, Will founded his own venture, Will Green at Ron Green, a separate brand that celebrates both his heritage and his individual eye. Rooted in the same principles of connoisseurship and integrity, Will works as a dealer and designer, curating antiques and creating bespoke pieces that reflect a freer, more artistic sensibility.

For Will, the appeal lies in what he calls a “time-softened skin”, the mellow patina and gentle wear that only years of life can give. He looks for good design, honest materials and quiet charm: pieces that feel both grand and humble, traditional yet fresh.

Drawing on the family’s long-held workshops and network of craftspeople, Will has introduced a growing collection of bespoke furniture, hand-sewn lampshades, lighting, textiles and decorative objects, all made or chosen with the same care, character and integrity that have defined the Green family’s work for nearly seventy years.
